. Het Bestuur van de WOVD besloot dat het classificatiesysteem voor het Kampioenschap 4-1-1 op het veld zal zijn. Dit betekent dat maximaal één speler met een minimale handicap en één niet-gehandicapte speler tijdens het spelen op het veld kan zitten. Door de deelname van drie Aziatische teams is het Women Sitting Volleybal Event uitgegroeid tot een aantrekkelijk onderdeel van het programma van de WOVD. De Teams lieten tijdens de Kampioenschappen zien hoe hoog het niveau op dit moment is.
Nederland speelt de volgende wedstrijden: Ned-Ukr 3-0, Ger-Ned 0-3, Fin-Ned 3-2, Kwartfinale Ned-Mon 3-0, Halve finale Slo-Ned 0-3,
Nederland verslaat Finland met 3-1 in de Finale en wint het Goud. SLO verslaat GER met 3-0 De eindstand: 1. NED, 2. FIN, 3. SLO, 4 GER, 5 JPN, 6 MON, 7 UKR, 8 IRI
Tijdens het WK wordt door de Deelnemende landen een speelsters gekozen , die het Dames Zit Volleybal vertegenwordigt in de WOVD atleten commissie. Voor Nederland het heugelijke nieuws dat Maria Poiesz deze functie gaat bekleden. Ron Zwerver deelde nog de persoonlijke prijzen uit aan Karin Harmsen "beste verdedigster" en aan Maria Poiesz "beste all-round " speelster.
2000 Paralympics
17-29 oktober 2000. Sydney Games.
Geen last hebben van een Jetlag is voor sport belangrijk. Voor elk uur tijdsverschil staat 1 dag acclimatisatie. Voor Sydney moest dus een langere tijd worden geacclimatiseerd. We vertrokken dus vroeg en trainden vooraf in Canberra de hoofdstad van Australie op het Papendal van dat land. 2 weken lekker trainen in een aangenaam klimaat. Kijken naar de groene papagaaien in de bomen. Op dag van de opening van het Olympische dorp vertrokken we. Het was maar een uur rijden met de bus. Sidney here we come.
Meer dan 4000 atleten uit 124 landen zijn ingeschreven voor de Spelen. Volleybal zal worden deelgenomen door de Standing and Sitting teams voor mannen. Voor het Zit Volleybal zijn 12 landen gekwalificeerd. Ze zijn in twee pool's in gedeeld
Pool A : Iran, Hongarije, Nederland, Japan, Duitsland, USA. Nederland speelt de volgende wedstrijden: Nederland-Hongarije 3-0, Nederland - Japan 3-0, Nederland- USA 3-0, Duitsland-Nederland 3-0, Iran - Nedserland 3-0. In de Kwartfinale Finland-Nederland 3-2. Voor de 5e tot 8ste plaats speelt Nederland -Libie 3-0, Nederland-Duitsland
1-3, Met dit resultaat wordt Nederland 6de.

25 oktober 2000, the . General Assembly. The key item in the meeting is the IPC's decision to remove standing volleyball from the Paralympic program and add Women's Sitting Volleyball to the program. Some Standing playing Countries are very angry and blame the WOVD Board. However, IPC's decision is based on the small international Standing volleyball participation over the past 5 years. The IPC issue reflects Paralympic growth. . Carol Mushett, IPC Sport Technical Director explained: “The requirements for team sports participation in the Paralympic program are that:
"at least 18 countries from three Continents must participate regularly for 4 years for a Paralympic year in international championships of a sport. It has been found after looking at official WOVD records that "Standing Volleyball" does not meet these criteria and therefore cannot participate in the next Paralympic Games."
NEW WOVD OFFICERS In Sydney the Executive and the Board members have discussed and appointed the following persons in the different offices. Changes in the Board Mr Amir Sardari has stepped down as Sport Director. On his advice the Board has appointed temporary Mr Gerard Brouwers, as his successor till the next GA 2002. Marketing Director Mr Zvika Karsh has stepped down from the Marketing Office. The Executive has not proposed to nominate a new candidate and will look into the future possibilities. Promotion & Publication The Executive has proposed to the Board to appoint Mr Amir SARDARI temporary as Promotion & Publication Officer (till the GA 2002) and to continue his role as liaison officer between the IPC and WOVD. Mr Sardari accepted these duties and the Board agreed. Sport Department The following persons have been appointed by the Board in the different offices: Mr Gerard BROUWERS - Sport Director Mr Joe CAMPBELL - Deputy Sport Director Mr Gaby LOTAN - Chairman Referee Commission (VRC) Mr Denis Le BREUILLY - Chairman Rules & Regulations Commission (RRC).
All have been informed about the two important decisions the IPC took in its last meetings. IPC has noticed the development in Standing over the world, but only an official entry in one of our Competitions can be considered. Here is an enormous task for the zonal committees and the R&E Department (to support the zones). As soon as the entries meet the set criteria over a period of 4 years, the IPC is willing to reconsider its position to Standing Volleyball. The IPC decided that Women Sitting Volleyball will be a new Event in the 2004 Paralympic program. The Board is disappointed abot the Standing situation , but pleased with the decision and congratulates all the Women athletes with this success. The way the women have worked to reach a high level of competition and stimulated other nations to join, has made the application to the IPC successful. Nevertheless we cannot sit still, because also for this Event we have to show IPC in 2008 that the women meet the set criteria to stay in the Paralympic program.
Mr David McCrae (GBR) received the "honorary membership" of the WOVD for his long activities as a player, coach and athlete representative on the IPC committee.
Mr Rosenthal (ISR) received "honorary membership" of the WOVD for all his work as chairman of the Referee Commission.
